Here is a list of design trends that will play a large role over the next year, well into 2010.

Introduction Blocks:

The upper-left area of a website is the most significant block on the webpage, because that is the first place your eye goes when you browse through any website. This spot grabs most attention from visitors. Therefore, this is the ideal place to get your message out and seen quickly. This can be done in many types of design, including corporate design, web applications, or portfolios.

Typography:

This trend started over the past year and will continue. Designs will direct toward the use of typography an integral part of the overall work rather than a liability. Web designers will start applying larger, more exciting fonts in place of system text. Overall, designers are giving more attention to typographic details such as leading, line height and choice of font.

Magazine Layout:

With more people going on line who see the web as the source of entertainment and real time information, many sites will be gearing towards this type of look, with short concise articles that are easy to read and concise information.

Multi-Column Layouts:

Designers have to work within the restraints of their medium. Unlike the web, print offers no option for scrolling, being bound as it is by the dimensions of the paper. Using several columns allow you to fit more content in the same space. Now, with increased screen resolutions and because of the advancements in the grid layouts, more designers are adapting this method to the web to make websites easier to use and to fit in more content.

White Space:

Its cleaner, easier on the eyes and easy to find what you are looking for. White is a great color to help something stand out…except if its the carpet under you’re dining room table. Sometimes simplicity is key.

Icons and Visuals:

The stylistically rendered icons that constitute in a small image what the entire section is about. Easy for people to recognize and people will find out them faster than the text.

Big Lead Image:

A picture is worth a thousand words. While it may be a while before a photograph has the same impact on the web as it does in print, the adoption of broadband access has made big photographs more feasible. We might have seen that some of the sites make use of large, high-impact images to draw users in and create an immersive experience.

These are some of the new trends that are followed in webdesigning.
